About Wyvis

Wyvis is situated in the town of Tillicoultry in Scotland’s smallest county, Clackmannanshire, and offers excellent accommodation and traditional Scottish food. The WEE COUNTY, as Clackmannanshire is affectionately known, is within easy reach of the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and their respective airports, as well as Scotland's newest city of Stirling, which makes it an ideal destination for touring the beautiful scenic and interesting Central Belt of Scotland, which has many places of interest to visit.

Wyvis, originally 3 dwellings, is a converted mill workers cottage and dates back to around 1845. The various families who occupied the house all worked in the thriving local woolen mills. The house was converted into a single dwelling around the mid 1940’s.

Wyvis is located in a pleasant location within the old part of the small town of Tillicoultry, which nestles beneath the Ochil Hills. There are lovely views, from the front of the house, of the hills that are spectacular in both summer and winter.

Wyvis offers quality Four Star Bed & Breakfast accommodation for a maximum of four guests. There are two rooms available, either Kingseat, a double room with full en-suite bathroom or Ben Cleuch, a twin room with full private bathroom.

There is also a comfortable lounge with a good selection of books and board games, as well as a TV with DVD player, for the exclusive use of guests.

For guests comfort and convenience we are a totally non smoking house. Sorry we cannot accept pets in to the house.

Irene has a wealth of experience as an accommodation provider with the emphasis being on comfortable quality accommodation, with a warm and friendly home from home atmosphere. In addition Irene can advise you on places to visit and things to do whilst in the area.

The year of 2008 has seen much improved transport links to the 'Wee County'.

Rail Travel

With the re-opening of the Stirling / Alloa railway line in May after being closed for more than 40 years. This service has exceeded all expectations carrying many more passengers than envisaged . This service now ensures that there is now a regular direct service from Glasgow Queen Street to Alloa which is only four miles from Tillicoultry. With a change at Striling services are available to Edinburgh and of course the whole UK rail network.

Road Travel

With the extension of the M876 motorway and the completion of the new Clackmannanshire Bridge accross the River Forth the Wee County now has very good access to the UK motorway network reducing journey times by up to 30 minutes. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are now less than an hours travel time by road from Tillicoultry.

The improved transport links help in making Wyvis an ideal base from which to explore the two cities and the wonderful scenic surroundings.
