the re-opening of the Stirling / Alloa railway line in May after being
closed
for more than 40 years. This service has exceeded all expectations
carrying
many more passengers than envisaged . This service now ensures that
there is
now a regular direct service from Glasgow Queen Street to Alloa which
is only
four miles from Tillicoultry. With a change at Striling services are
available
to Edinburgh and of course the whole UK rail network. Road
Travel With the extension of the M876 motorway and the completion of the new Clackmannanshire Bridge accross the River Forth the Wee County now has very good access to the UK motorway network reducing journey times by up to 30 minutes.Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are now less than an hours travel time by road from Tillicoultry. The improved
transport links help in making Wyvis an ideal base from which to
explore the
two cities and the wonderful scenic surroundings. How to find us From Glasgow Take
the M8 Motorway east towards Edinburgh. Stay on the M8 through the
centre of
Glasgow until you reach the M80. Take
the M80, A80, M80 and M876 to its end and travel across the
Clackmannanshire
Bridge then taking the first exit at the
next roundabout. At the second roundabout take the second exit along
the A907
towards Alloa. On entering Alloa you will reach a roundabout with the
railway
line on your right. Take the second (right hand) exit here, crossing
the
railway and continue until you reach the
next roundabout. Take the second exit
and travel along the A908 until you reach Tillicoultry, at the junction
with the A91 turn left towards Stirling. Stirling Street is the fourth
junction
on your right just beyond the Tyre Salesroom, opposite the Post Office.
Wyvis
is on your left at the top of the street, third house from the end,
with it's
distinctive two front doors Take the M9 until you reach the M876 junction leaving the M9 motorway at this junction taking the M876 to its end and travel across the Clackmannanshire Bridge then taking the first exit at the next roundabout. At the second roundabout take the second exit along the A907 towards Alloa. On entering Alloa you will reach a roundabout with the railway line on your right. Take the second (right hand) exit here, crossing the railway and continue until you reach the next roundabout. Take the second exit and travel along the A908 until you reach Tillicoultry, at the junction with the A91 turn left towards Stirling. Stirling Street is the fourth junction on your right just beyond the Tyre Salesroom, opposite the Post Office. you are using public transport to travel around Scotland you can get
the train
to Alloa which now has a regular hourly direct Scotrail service from
Glasgow. If
travelling from Glasgow
simply catch the Alloa train from Glasgow's
Queen Street Station. From Alloa Station it is a short walk to the Bus
Terminus, where Taxis are also available. It is then a quick journey to
Tilicoultry. Leave the bus at the Post Office, cross the road and walk
to the
top of Stirling Street, which is opposite the Post Office. Wyvis is on
your
left at the top of the street, third house from the end. If travelling from Edinburgh it is necessary to change trains at Stirling catching the Alloa train (check the platform number). From Alloa Station it is short walk to the Bus Terminus, where Taxis are also available. It is then a quick journey to Tilicoultry. Leave the bus at the Post Office, cross the road and walk to the top of Stirling Street, which is opposite the Post Office. Wyvis is on your left at the top of the street, third house from the end.
