Sight Seeing and Activities around the area There are many and varied activities available in the area, With facilities for hillwalking, equestrian activities, fishing, golfing all within easy reach, Wyvis is an ideal base for an activity based holiday. For the golfer there a many first class golf courses some with very challenging fairways. Gleneagles and St. Andrews are both less than an hours travel away. Tillicoultry Tillicoultry is one of the five Hillfoots town's famous in the mid 19th to early 20th century for it's woollen mills. At the peak of the industry Tillicoultry had no less than 12 woollen mills. Today it is home to one Britains largest furniture stores and the successful Sterling Mills Outlet Village. In the nearby town of Alva you will find the Mill Trail Visitor Centre, which has displays giving a detailed history of the woollen mills, as well as Clackmannanshire. Clackmannanshire The Wee County, as it is fondly known, Clackmannanshire is Scotland's smallest county. The Ochils, a range of hills formed by a geological fault, form the northern boundary of the county and offer some excellent walks for both experienced and inexperienced hill walker alike. There are many excellent views to be had from viewpoints on each of the walks. The highest summit of the Ochils is Ben Cleuch at a height of 2364 ft (751m) above sea level, with impressive views all round including the mountains of the highlands to the north. For the leisure walker you can easily reach the summit of Dumyat and enjoy spectacular views of the Forth Valley, Stirling and the surrounding area.
Dollar is also home to Dollar Golf Club with it's challenging course created on the slopes of the Ochils, well worth a visit if you are a golfer. Click Here for more information

Also in Clackmannanshire you can visit the recently restored Alloa Tower, a 14th. century tower house, where Mary Queen of Scots son, later to become King James VI, spent some time as an infant. In nearby Clackmannan, there is an even older Tower, with unique features, which is currently undergoing extensive restoration. These properties are in the care of the National Trust for Scotland (Alloa Tower) and Historic Scotland (Clackmannan Tower), which will ensure that they are maintained for the enjoyment of visitors for many decades to come. For a short walk you can visit the Gartmorn Dam nearby, Scotland's oldest man-made reservoir, which also has excellent fishing and is home to a wide range of wildlife, whilst nearby Fishcross is home to one of Scotland's foremost equestrian centres. |

Wyvis is also an ideal base for touring with Stirling, Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, St. Andrews, Perth, Glasgow and Scotland's capital Edinburgh all within an hours travel. Stirling Stirling, only 10miles away, one of Scotland's most historic towns was granted city status, by the Queen in 2002 and is now Scotland's newest city, . The historic Stirling Castle, cobbled streets and mix of medieval and renaissance architecture and buildings make Stirling Old Town one of the finest in Scotland. From the ramparts of the historic Stirling Castle you can look down on ancient battlefields, the most famous of these being the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, a victory for William Wallace. There are also wonderful views of the mountains to the north and west. The battle featured in the recent blockbuster movie Braveheart. The nearby Wallace Monument is home to an excellent visitor centre with stunning views from the top. The monument is home to many historic artefacts the most important being the famous Wallace broadsword. Just a short drive from Stirling you will find the Bannockburn Heritage Centre, which commemorates the Battle of Bannockburn in 1214 where King Robert the Bruce's victory secured Scotland's independence. |

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs Loch Lomond is Scotland's first National Park, with many activities including hillwalking, watersports and visitor centres, all worth a visit. The Trossachs (which means the jagged skyline) is an area of outstanding beauty with many mountain walks to some of Scotland's most popular peaks, many over 3000 ft. in height. The spectacular Loch Katrine with it's steamer cruises also has tracks which allow the walker and cyclist to enjoy it's beauty from the shore. This area is known as Rob Roy country, and his grave can be seen at Balquhidder Kirk. In the extensive Queen Elizabeth Forest Park there are many excellent walks and at the David Marshall Lodge visitor centre you can watch the wildlife on video screens with cameras located at the nesting places and also enjoy one of the many short walks in the forest.

Falkirk and Linlithgow A short drive away you can visit the unique Falkirk Wheel, the worlds first and only rotary boat lift which forms a link between the Forth & Clyde and Union canals. Other places worth a visit in this area are the Roman built Antonine Wall and the historic Linlithgow Palace.
